Yemenis of Saudi Arabia

Yemen and Saudi Arabia share a long and disputed border. In the 1930s Yemen gave the Najran Province to Saudi Arabia in a peace agreement to end a war between the two nations. Since then, conflict has ebbed and flowed as Yemenis illegally enter Saudi to find work, terrorists flee from the law from one country to the other and family members are separated by the passport they carry.

The Yemenis of Saudi have integrated into Saudi society, enjoying what oil money can provide. They still have close ties to family in Yemen, some visiting their loved ones to the south, during eids (religious holidays). All are Muslim, following the 5 pillars of Islam. These include the pilgrimage to Mecca, giving alms to the poor, fasting during the month of Ramadan, saying the prayers 5 times a day and stating the Shahada (there is no God but God and Mohammed is his prophet). The language of the Yemenis of Saudi is Arabic.
Romans 10: 14 says, “ How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? (ESV). Very few have taken the Good News to the Yemenis of Saudi Arabia. Most of the people of this group have not heard the Good News.

- Ask that people who God has called to take the Good News to the Yemenis of Saudi Arabia, will go. Ask that they will find ways to live among these people and share Truth with them.
- Ask that Yemenis of Saudi Arabia will hear the Good News when they visit loved ones in Yemen who have heard.
- Ask that God will speak to these people through visions and dreams.
- Ask that the people will not be lured by materialism, something that many Saudis struggle with in their affluent society.
